Many Lives of Medieval Music Manuscripts symposium
Marking the occasion which launched the next phase of the Virtual Trinity Library’s Manuscripts Studies Project, Schola Hyberniae performed a chant from 15th century manuscript “Clondalkin Breviary”. The music was transcribed from medieval notation into modern musical notation and prepared for performance and wider scholarly study by Dr Ann Buckley of the AMRA project, Medieval History Research Centre, Trinity. As part of the online project, 60 manuscripts have now been conserved, digitised and rendered, as 16,000 high quality images. The material captured provides a fascinating insight into the social, creative, medicinal and culinary culture of medieval Europe.
